Ohio State University ’60

1960 still stands as a year to remember as the acclaimed Ohio State University Buckeyes braved the court. Jerry Lucas and John Havlicek were among the basketball greats to secure the 20-point win over California allowing them to easily steal the 1960 NCAA championship.

Although playing only a supporting role with the Buckeyes, Bobby Knight was also on the Ohio State team that won the 1960 NCAA championship. Knight took this opportunity to learn the game under the late Hall of Fame coach Fred Taylor who led the Buckeyes to the national championship.

The Buckeyes were runners-up the next two years and captured a still unequalled five straight Big Ten titles between 1960 and 1964.
