Waterloo Wonders ’34-’35

Before 1933, Waterloo was not much different from any other small rural community in Southeast Ohio. But a combination of skilled players, talented coaching and pure luck soon landed Waterloo a series of successes.

Nothing short of wondrous, the Waterloo Wonders quickly captured fame in the 1934-35 season with two consecutive state championship titles. Among those that led Waterloo to victory were: Coach Magellan Hairston, and five notable players, Orlyn Roberts, Wyman Roberts, Stewart Wiseman, Curtis McMahon and Beryl Drummond.
