Allan Hornyak was a high-scoring guard from Bellaire who made All-Big Ten three times (1971-73) and received All-America recognition twice (1972-73) while playing for Ohio State. He was the Buckeyes’ leading scorer three straight years, averaging 22.5, 21.6 and 24 points. His career average was 22.8.  He was a member of the 1971 Big Ten championship team along with Jim Cleamons, Luke Witte, Mark Minor and Mark Wagar. Hornyak had a brilliant prep career from 1965-69 at St. John High School where he led the nation in scoring in his junior and senior years. He averaged 42 points per game, scoring 86 in a game against Tiltonsville Warren Consolidated in 1969.
