After earning All-Ohio recognition at Bath High School in Lima where her mother, Gretchen Prichard, was the coach, Amy Prichard went to Northwestern University in 1979 and became one of that school’s first women’s basketball stars.  A guard/forward, she played 118 games for the Wildcats, scoring 1,533 points, grabbing 653 rebounds, assisting on 353 field goals and collecting 227 steals. She remains one of two Northwestern players to rank in the school’s top 10 in all four categories. She had a team-leading average of 16.3 points per game in 1981-82. During her four years in Evanston, Northwestern won 84 games and lost 35. The Wildcats had records of 24-5, 22-12, 21-8 and 17-10.  Prichard was hired as head coach at Ohio University in 1984 and remained at that post for six seasons. She was voted Mid-American Conference coach of the year in 1986 when the Bobcats won the MAC title.
