Diane Plas graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1968 from Willard High School. In 1972 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Arts. She began officiating high school girls basketball while attending college. Diane has been an Ohio High School registered official since 1973 working both girls and boys games. She has officiated in 10 OHSAA Girls State Tournament games.
From 1980 -1992 her collegiate officiating experience has included NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA Women’s Basketball, working for the Mid-American Conference; the Cleveland State and Wright State (under various conference names); the Big Ten Conference and the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City in 1988.
Diane had extensive experience in officiating collegiate volleyball from 1982-2004 in the same conferences as she did in basketball. From 1977-2004 she officiated the Ohio State High School Volleyball Tournament, working numerous finals. Diane has been a State Rules Interpreter since 1985 and is a current State Faculty Chair in the Train-the-Trainers group which involves teaching the class instructors how to teach the volleyball classes. Mrs. Plas has been inducted into the Lake Erie Basketball Officials Association (2001) and the Northern Ohio Basketball Officials Association (2005).
Diane is an assigner and evaluator of basketball officials for Women’s basketball in the following conferences: President’s Athletic Conference, Ohio Regional Campus Conference, Ohio Community College Athletic Association (NJCAA), North Coast Athletic Conference, The Ohio Athletic Conference and the American Mid-East Conference.
She is the NCAA Regional Advisor to Division I Women’s basketball; NAIA Division I Supervisor of officials, National Tournament; NAIA Division II Supervisor of officials, National Tournament. In addition to the above duties, from 1984-present, she has served as coordinator of the Annual Rules Clinics for officials.
