Herb Williams played in the National Basketball Association for 18 seasons after starting at center for four years (1978-81) at Ohio State. The Marion Franklin High School product is the only OSU player to score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. He averaged 17.6 points in 1980 when OSU finished 21-8 and advanced to the NCAA Regional. Williams led the Buckeyes in rebounds three years in a row.  He was selected 14th by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 1981 NBA draft.  He played for Indiana, Dallas, New York and Toronto before retiring after 18 seasons at the age of 41. After eight years with the Knicks, the club hired him as an assistant coach in 2001. Since then he has filled in twice as interim head coach. He is currently an assistant coach with the New York Knicks.
