Division II State Champions
Continuing to outscore its opponents by unprecedented margins, Trinity won its third state title in seven years. Junior Semeka Randall, who averaged 31 points per game, was named Ohio Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Opponents averaged 44.3 fewer points than the Lady Trojans, who were undefeated in the North Coast League for the ninth straight year. Trinity knocked off previously unbeaten Lima Bath, 58-55, in the championship game at St. John Arena in Columbus, ending Bath’s 27-game winning streak. Two of the Lady Trojans’ three losses were to nationally-ranked Chicago Stevenson in the Chicagoland Prep Classic. The third was at Hamilton (Ind.) North. Trinity defeated Pius XI of Milwaukee, which was ranked No. 5 in the nation by USA Today and had won 31 in a row.
