Brittany Hunter

Brittany Hunter's basketball journey showcases exceptional talent despite persistent injury challenges. At Brookhaven High School (2000-2003), she dominated as National Player of the Year by Parade Magazine, earning WBCA and McDonald's All-American honors in 2003. She made history as the first woman to compete in the McDonald's Slam Dunk Contest while claiming Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year, Ohio Miss Basketball, and Associated Press Ohio Player of the Year recognition. Her senior season featured remarkable averages of 23.4 points, 17.6 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 2 steals, scoring fewer than 15 points just once. She finished with 1,492 career points (18.73 PPG) and led Brookhaven to the Division I State Final Four.

At Duke University (2003-2004), Hunter battled a meniscus tear and plantar fasciitis but still averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds with an impressive 55.8 field goal percentage across 27 games, playing alongside OBHOF inductee Alison Bales.

Transferring to the University of Connecticut (2004-2007), Hunter started 97 games over three seasons despite limited time due to injuries. She helped secure two Big East titles and reached the Elite Eight and Final Four three times, including the 2008 Final Four. Her career shooting percentage of 55.9% and 464 career points reflected her efficiency. Hunter competed alongside OBHOF inductee Mel Thomas, Renee Montgomery (WNBA Champion and team owner), and Tina Charles (WNBA MVP), contributing to UConn's championship tradition.
