This January, we celebrate a special milestone as our beloved co-founder, Doc Daugherty, turns 94. Doc, along with his friend Don Henderson, had a dream of creating a place to honor Ohio's greatest basketball legends and pioneers has grown into the vibrant Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame we know today. His vision extends beyond simply recognizing achievements—it's about preserving the stories of those who have contributed to the honor and integrity of our state through the sport of basketball.
"Even at 94, Doc continues to work tirelessly for the Hall of Fame. His dedication to preserving Ohio's basketball heritage is unwavering— we speak on the phone regularly, he sends cards and communicates with all our past inductees, and constantly thinks of ways to make the organization even better. Doc truly embodies the spirit of what makes the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame special."
— Sheila Fox, Executive Director
As we begin 2025, we're seeing Doc's dream flourish through the generous support of our inducted members and basketball fans across Ohio. Their donations help us continue the tradition of our annual Induction Ceremony and allow us to support future generations of basketball players through our scholarship program, which last year provided $1,000 awards to promising students Maggie McVeigh and Zach Jones.
Doc's unwavering dedication to Ohio basketball reminds us that great achievements start with a dream and grow through the support of a committed community. As we honor his birthday, we invite you to join us in furthering his vision by supporting the Hall of Fame's mission to celebrate and preserve Ohio's rich basketball heritage.
